Let’s Prepare our environment for installing the Data warehouse Server by installing the following prerequisites :

Before proceeding with the installation there are manual steps that needs to be taken, those steps are described here in detail Manual Steps to Configure the Remote SQL Server Reporting Services During deployment of the Service Manager data warehouse management server, you can specify the server to which Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) will be deployed. During setup, the computer that is hosting the data warehouse management server is selected by default. If you specify a different computer to host SSRS, you are prompted to follow this procedure to prepare the server. Preparing the remote computer to host SSRS involves the following steps, which are covered in detail in this section:

  • Copy Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Reporting.Code.dll from the Service Manager installation media to the computer that is hosting SSRS.

11

  • Add a code segment to the rssrvpolicy configuration file on the computer that is hosting SSRS.

12

  • Add an Extension tag to the existing Data segment in the rsreportserver configuration file on the same computer.

13Okay now that we have finished those manual steps lets start the installation wizard and choose Service Manager Data warehouse management server.

2

Provide your product key and click next.

3Ok This time i prepared all my prerequisites before running the installation.

4-

Data Mart verification needs the SQL Server Location to succeed , provide the SQL Server FQDN.

7Wait for the verification to complete then click next.

8Configure additional data warehouse datamarts by pointing to your SQL Server location.

9Like we did in the management server installation we are going to create a data warehouse management group and assign SCSM Administrators as the management group administrators. members of this group will have full permission to perform any action within the management group, and they will have access to the Service Manager console.

10

Point to the Report Server which in our case is the SQL Server , and mark the check box ” I have taken the manual steps ……..”

14Our Hero 🙂 SCSMAdmin comes again into play ..

15And again …

16Point to your SQL Server for the Analysis Services.

17

🙄 …….

18We are done .. Good Luck with the installation 🙂

19Okay now the installation is done.

Setup completedLike we did in the Management Server installation we are going to backup the encryption key.

12

Now  for reporting to function you must run the Data Warehouse Registration Wizard. This wizard registers the Service Manager management group with the data warehouse management group. It also deploys management packs from the Service Manager management server to the data warehouse management server. from the Management Server open the Service Manager Console and type the name of the Service Manager Management Server and connect.

20

In the Administration Overview click on “Register with Service Manager Data warehouse”.

21Type in the name for the Data Warehouse Server and test the connection.

22

Now select the Run As account that we had created before during the installation and click next, you will be asked for the SCSMAdmin password.

23Confirm the connection settings and continue.

24

If the configuration failed to succeed, do not worry just click on previous and create again, it should then succeed.

25Now the Management Pack deployment has automatically started. Click OK and return to the Service Manager Console.

26Go to the Data Warehouse tab and click on Management Packs. you can then review the deployment status for each management pack. please note that the management pack deployment can take several hours to complete.

27Well.. that would be all for installing the Data Warehouse server, i am going to finish this article with installing the Service Manager console.

28

Service Manager Console is the user interface (UI) piece that is used by both the help desk analyst and the help desk administrator to perform Service Manager functions. you can install it on another machine, i will be installing the console on my Windows 8 Client and use it to connect to the server, first let’s preview the prerequisites:

Fire up the installation wizard and choose to install Server Manager Console

29

You should be fine with the prerequisites check

30

That’s it .. pretty simple 🙂
